Sometimes it takes something inspiring to get things moving. I was inspired to get back to the keys and make some updates by a Spaniard, a Chilean, and a new take on turkey.
I've driven by The Sandwich Shack dozens of times over the last year, and always wanted to stop. Yesterday it was getting to that time where I either stop and eat or wait for dinner, and took the opportunity to grab a quick bite. Expecting just another sando, the specials board stopped me in my tracks.
The owners (the aforementioned Spaniard and Chilean) informed me that the menu itself - currently a standard deli menu for breakfast and lunch- was going to be updated soon, and from what I see they don't have a website, but what I can tell you is that the Turkey Ole was just about the best sandwich I've head in years. (The ole waistline needs some trimming, so thechorizo-manchego was off limits.)
I'll most certainly be back to see what other surprises make their way to the specials board and new menu, and I most enthusiastically recommend that if you are anywhere near exit 7 off I-84, plug this address in your GPS and find your way to the Sandwich Shack.
*One Note: Gentleman, get yourselves some fresh brewed Iced Tea (some of us hate the bottled stuff with a passion) and you'll get another fork out of it.
